The question: which recurring series have paid off their balance and are still being billed? Today that is 3 of the 10,660 series still billing. Why it is a small number matters more than the number.
A Square series only ever holds ONE invoice ahead of today — 10,654 of the 10,660 live series have exactly one scheduled, 6 have two. It mints the next one as the last falls due. So the balance and the schedule fall together as a plan runs, a series that completes normally simply stops, and a settled agreement is only visible in the window between settling and its next charge. That window is why this is a list each day rather than a one-off sweep, and it means this page is today's exposure, not a standing pile.
The wider leak is one step earlier. 35 live series are scheduled to charge more than the customer still owes — $3,444 over the balance, 10 of them inside seven days. Most owe something, just less than the charge that is coming.
/v2/subscriptions/search returns nothing for all six recurring locations, so this billing is not subscriptions, and the Invoices API has no series object to end. A person has to end each one in the Square Dashboard. That is what this list and its CSV are for. This is deliberately not "negative balance". A balance goes below zero whenever a credit larger than the finance is posted — 107 agreements, $34,773 — and that is a bookkeeping shape, not money taken from anybody. 10 more carry payments against an agreement with no finance recorded at all. Neither is counted above.

Every invoice in the six Square recurring locations — 420,170 of them, pulled 2026-09-17 10:06 UTC — grouped into 63,803 series by invoice number (00445958-R-0001, -R-0002… are one series). 10,660 have an invoice scheduled ahead of today, which is what "still billing" means here; 26,520 more belong to an agreement that owes nothing and have already stopped — that is the billing working correctly.
The join is exact. Every recurring invoice carries the CRM agreement reference in its title — D3845375 is the Debtor Ledger's own ref. 62,367 of 63,803 series joined (97.7%); 1,436 did not and are excluded from every money figure rather than guessed at. No name matching and no phone matching is used anywhere in this report.
Owes nothing means a ledger balance of $10 or less (finance - paid - credits). The $10 tolerance is the one the debt pages use: 2,405 ledger rows carry paid in full = Yes with a residual under $10, and a cent-exact test would call every one of them a debtor. The real balance is printed against every row, so a $10 residual is never hidden behind the word "settled".
Over-charging means the NEXT charge is more than the balance, by more than the same $10. Only the next invoice counts, because that is all Square holds. The opposite shape — a balance bigger than the charge — is the ordinary state of anyone who has missed a cycle and is not a leak: a missed invoice is never re-billed, so the arrears sit there with no invoice left to collect them.
The ledger was last pulled 2026-09-17 10:32 UTC. A payment taken since then is not in these numbers, so an agreement settled today shows up tomorrow. That direction is safe — it misses a few, it invents none — and every row on the list is re-read live from the CRM anyway.
Every row on the list is re-read live from the booking’s own finance schedule in the CRM (PaymentUIClass.loadByBooking) as the list is built, and its Total Outstanding footer has to agree with the ledger balance. 35 of 35 agreed, 0 disagreed and 0 could not be read. Disputed rows stay on the list, marked, rather than being dropped. This step is a read; it changes nothing.

POST /v2/subscriptions/search returns nothing for all six recurring locations — this billing does not use Square Subscriptions, so there is no subscription object to pause or cancel.POST /v2/invoices/{id}/cancel) stops that cycle's charge. The series mints a replacement next cycle, so it would have to run as a nightly sweep, forever, against every settled series.POST /v2/cards/{id}/disable) stops it permanently — there is no re-enable endpoint, and it takes the card away from the collections team too.
