Hello, my name is Astrid Reynoso and I'm calling because it's almost been a month now since I have done my complementary photoshoot and I still haven't received my photos and I really need those to pursue modeling because those are the photos that specifically I have been requested to change. So I really need those photos as soon as possible. And I don't understand why it's taking so long, honestly. And I need them to start paying off everything that I owe to the studio and to start actually pursuing my modeling career. So I'm going to really need those photos as soon as possible. And please reach back up to me with them. All right, my number is two, four, seven, eight, eight, three, zero, five, three, four, and also be sending an email on Monday. Thank you. Bye.

Good Morning Natalie,
I would really appreciate speaking to someone. I'm not really looking to redo the shoot if that would be an option, since all my feedback has been the same. I would like to talk about potentially cancelling the plan I have and remove any of the photos from that session from my comp cards, social media, and website, and your company could feel free to use those images as you like.
I would love to speak to someone who can help me reguarding this matter.

Hello Astrid,
Thank you for your email.
Thank you for sharing your feedback regarding the images provided by the Studio. We regret to hear that you are dissatisfied with the results, as our goal is always to deliver high-quality materials that meet professional standards and support our clients’ success.
The images produced by our team are created in collaboration with experienced photographers, stylists, and editors who specialize in the modeling industry. Every element of the shoot, including lighting, angles, makeup, wardrobe, and posing, is carefully planned and executed to complement your unique features while aligning with industry standards. These standards are designed to ensure that the final product resonates with agencies and industry professionals.
It’s important to note that preferences for photography can be subjective, and while the images have been crafted to showcase your best features and meet industry expectations, we understand that personal tastes may vary. If there are specific aspects of the images you are unhappy with, we welcome your feedback so we can better understand your concerns. We are happy to explore options such as additional editing or a possible reshoot.
Our company does not operate as a subscription-based service. Instead, clients purchase a one-time professional package that may be financed through scheduled payments for convenience.
The contract you signed to confirm your order is a legally binding agreement and outlines the terms and conditions of the purchase, including cancellation provisions. In accordance with the agreement, all materials included in your package were delivered within the timeframe specified.
The images and Model Guide were sent to you on 03/29/26 as part of your completed deliverables.
At this time, we are unable to offer a full cancellation of the agreement. However, if you are experiencing difficulty with the current payment structure, I would be happy to review your account to see what options may be available to help make the payments more manageable.
If you would like me to look into this for you, please reply confirming, and I will be happy to assist further.
Kind Regards,
Kendrick

Hima Valentine (gmail.com)
Hi Ash,
I have given you some great info, so please use it will definitely get you started. This is something that usually does not come with your package.????
Good luck!
INDEPENDENT MODELING: Independent modeling is when models work for themselves as freelancers and they are responsible for finding all their own jobs, but they get to keep all of the money earned.
You should take jobs that are a minimum of 2 hours in one day; maximum 8 hours, nothing more than 10. You can always discuss with the client/company the amount of time you will be working and split in a couple of days if necessary. As an independent model we suggest you charge $100 to $150 an hour for your modeling services. Always refer back to the job description to make this decision and price yourself wisely so you don’t miss any opportunities.
CASTING WEBSITES Oftentimes models find freelance and independent opportunities through casting websites.
These are not agencies. Thousands of new casting notices are posted by casting directors and producers who are looking to cast talent for their productions. Casting websites are subscription based, reliable sources that will give you a list of jobs to look through and apply to.
We recommend you select only one or two of these casting websites: Highlighted are the Top 3.
https://www.castingnetworks.com/
https://castingfrontier.com/
https://www.backstage.com/
https://www.buildcasting.com/
https://www.mandy.com/
(TX) https://www.katzkasting.com/blog
(Boston) https://www.slatecasting.com/
https://www.centralcasting.com/ga/ (New York/ Georgia/ Louisiana/ CA) (FREE)
https://www.4starcasting.com/ (Chicago/ TX/ GA/ Maryland/ CA) (FREE)
s://www.bostoncasting.com/# (Boston)
MODEL SEARCH / CASTING CALLS: When you're looking for opportunities online, make sure to use keywords so you can filter through all the information and get the results you want. You will be searching for and attending Casting Calls or Auditions to put yourself right in front of industry professionals, show them your confidence, your walk, and most importantly, make a lasting impression! Model Search Examples:
Open auditions for male/female/etc models for catalogs in Miami, Orlando, Atlanta, Dallas, Houston, NY, Boston, Philadelphia, Chicago
Open casting calls for male/female/etc models for fashion shows in Miami, Orlando, Atlanta, Dallas, Houston, NY, Boston, Philadelphia, Chicago
Searching the 3 major cities that are close to where you live will make it easier to attend.
7. AGENCY MODELS: Models who sign with an agency are represented by that agency, which will help the model find work. The standard commission taken by an agency is between 15 and 20 percent. These modeling agencies were hand-picked for you. Once you have completed your first conference call, go ahead and start applying to these agencies and the agencies in the Talent Guide.
RECOMMENDED AGENCIES:
BMG https://bmgtalent.com/
Exxcel https://www.exxcelmodel.com/home
Vie Agency https://www.vieagency.com/
Stetts https://stetts.com/
Make sure to follow up on your applications by emailing the agencies 2 to 3 weeks after you have applied. Attach your cover letter and resume to the follow-up email. There are additional modeling agency website links in the back of the Model Talent Guide. Take a look at the websites, fill out the submission form for any additional agencies as well!
Tips for Applying to the agencies: Most agencies have their submission forms (applications) on their websites, search in the menu for links that say ‘Get Discovered’, ‘Apply’, ‘Become a Model’, etc. Make sure to read their instructions beforehand so you can have all the information they require, plus the materials they want, before you start applying. It shouldn't take you more than 5-10 minutes for each agency. Make sure to keep track of your applications and always research the agency or client before applying, and double-check information before sharing your personal information with anyone
Submitting correctly with the most natural photos is the proper way to apply
Professional model scouts are looking for something different from what you might expect. They don't want to see you in your fanciest outfit with lots of makeup on. They are looking for you at your most natural.
Have a clean face with light or no makeup. (look 1 from your photoshoot)
Pull your hair back or make sure your whole face is exposed, and you are looking directly at the camera.
Wear a form-fitting outfit. They need to see the shape of your body.
Look #1 from your photoshoot is a clean "blank canvas" standard look to apply with. (ONLY)
Always submit a headshot, a full-length shot, and a third image if required.
Read the requirements and submit only what is asked for. If they ask for 3 images, submit a headshot, a full-length shot, and a third image, waist up or view from the side. Use your "web-ready" images.
We suggest sending an email with the cover letter and resume attached, 2 to 3 weeks after submitting. Following up is a professional way to showcase your different looks to the agency. This strategy is sure to impress, prove you are serious about modeling, and show a level of professionalism that will set you apart from everyone else.
Important! Follow every agency applied to on Instagram (tips for creating a successful model Instagram will follow the conference call)
These are the stepping stones to start your journey into modeling, and on the call, we will be discussing so many more important aspects of the modeling industry to further guide you. Please let me know if you have any questions or concerns. I look forward to speaking with you!
Please see the cover letter and resume samples attached and have this email open and ready for the conference call.

Hi Ash,
I hope you’re doing well.
I’ve reviewed your cover letter and resume, and I must say—you did a great job. This is a strong start. I just have a few notes to help elevate your documents even further.
From what I can see, you’re a fan of the color pink—great choice! However, I want to make sure you’re presenting yourself in the most professional and industry-appropriate way. You don’t want to come across as a caricature. I would recommend using a darker, more muted pink to give your documents a more polished and sophisticated feel.
Additionally, the photo on your cover letter should be from your First Look (T-shirt & Jeans). This is industry standard because agencies want to see you in your most natural state. It allows them to better understand where you might fit within their board and how you could be presented at castings.
Make a few of these adjustments, and you’ll be in a great position—very close to being industry-ready.
Kind regards,
Irving

Good Morning,
Thank you for your reply, I appreciate this breakdown so much! Yes, I can absolutely give you the name I have in mind: Hima Valentine!
I specifically want to try working in fashion or makeup modeling, my own lifestyle also matching the image I want to bring with that name. I wanted to pick a fancy, almost princessy yet cute name that sounds approachable and sweet yet memorable. Let me know what you think!
Sincerely, Astrid Reynoso.
From
To
Hello Astrid,
Your idea is strong—and more importantly, it shows you’re already thinking like a brand, which is exactly what agencies look for.
“Hima Valentine” definitely hits the vibe you’re going for: it feels soft, feminine, a little luxe, and memorable. It leans well into beauty/fashion, especially for makeup, skincare, or romantic/editorial work.
That said, here’s an honest industry breakdown so you can make the smartest choice:
What works really well:
“Valentine” ? very strong. It’s elegant, easy to remember, and has clear branding potential (beauty, romance, luxury).
Overall feel ? “princessy yet approachable” comes through clearly, which fits commercial beauty and influencer-style modeling.
What to think twice about:
“Hima” ? it’s unique (which is good), but:
Some people may be unsure how to pronounce it at first glance
It doesn’t immediately signal a clear aesthetic or cultural reference in fashion (not a dealbreaker, just something to consider)
How agencies might perceive it:
They’ll like that it’s distinct and brandable
They may test how it looks on a comp card or say it out loud in castings
If it’s slightly hard to pronounce, it can slow down first impressions—but uniqueness can also make you stand out
A couple of small tweak ideas (if you’re open to refining):
You don’t have to change it, but here are options that keep your vision while improving flow:
Hima Valentine (keep as-is, but commit to pronunciation clarity)
Hima Rose Valentine (adds softness + memorability)
H. Valentine (more high-fashion/editorial feel)
Valentine Hima (feels more fashion-forward, slightly edgier)
My honest take:
If you love Hima Valentine, you can absolutely use it. It’s:
? Memorable
? On-brand for beauty/fashion
? Unique enough to stand out
Just be ready to confidently say it and “own” it—that’s what really sells a name in this industry.
One pro tip:
Before locking it in, try this quick test:
Say it out loud like you’re being introduced at a casting
Picture it on a comp card or Instagram handle
Ask: Does this feel like someone brands would book?
If the answer is yes, you’re in a great spot.
Kind Regards,
Irving

Questions About Using A Stage Name
IRVING
Ash
Mar 30, 2026, 12:23?PM (22 hours ago)
to inquiries@mapsstudio.nyc
Good Morning!
My name is Astrid Reynoso, and yesterday I went into the studio in Midtown Manhattan and signed a contract with Debra! Before I start to create my efolio and comp card, I wanted to ask if it's okay to use a stage name! I have one in mind already, so if it's possible to do so, let me know and I can also run the name by you if needed. Thank you so much for your help!
Sincerely, Astrid Reynoso.
From
To
Hello Astrid,
Yes—using a stage name as a new model is absolutely okay, and it’s actually pretty common in the industry. Let Production know early before they make your product.
Many successful models and entertainers have used professional names for branding, privacy, or memorability. For example, Gigi Hadid uses a shortened version of her real name (Jelena), and Kendall Jenner drops her middle/last name variations depending on branding. In acting, Emma Stone was born Emily Stone but changed it professionally.
Why models use stage names:
Branding: Easier to remember, more unique, or fits a certain image
Privacy: Keeps your personal life separate
Marketability: Some names just “stick” better in castings or online
Avoiding duplicates: If someone else already has your name in the industry
A few important tips:
Be consistent – Use the same name across your portfolio, social media, and submissions
Tell your agency upfront – They need to know your legal name for contracts and payments, but can market you under your stage name
Keep it professional – Make sure it still feels appropriate for the type of modeling you want (fashion, commercial, etc.)
Check availability – Search if the name is already widely used in modeling/entertainment
Bottom line:
It’s completely fine—as long as your agency is aware and your legal documents use your real name, you can absolutely build your career under a stage name.
If you want, I can help you decide if your stage name idea works well for the industry or tweak it to sound more “bookable.”
Kind regards,
-

I would really love to talk about negotiating the price I'm paying for these photos. Because it's ridiculous that I come reaching out about how much trouble I'm having booking any roles because of my photos, then I go in to retake the photos that are an issue, and now I have to wait a month to get the "complimentary" photos and no one seems to be able to send me said complimentary photos. I've lost my patience and I truly have better things to be spending my money on, and places where I can get these photos done for a fraction of the cost that I was offered here. I was told this problem would be resolved and I would be given industry ready photos, and I have to wait a month just to be told to check the same website I've checked at least once a week for an update, just to log in and see nothing? This has got to be a joke at this point.
Can we just cancel the rest of my balance at this point because I see no reason to continue doing business with this company if I can't be pro
vided a single thing I was actually promised. At this point thay'd be easiest for everyone because I am not interested in coming in for yet another photoshoot if these pbotos I was promised are lost.

Client wanted to discuss the fact that the images she's paid for are being rejected by the places she is applying to due to them not being professional-looking and what they are looking for.
I offered a refinance for 12 months as well to help remedy the situation.
I explained to her that we cannot cancel for this reason; however, to remedy the situation, I have offered to have productions review the images and also to have Outreach reach out to her so that we can offer additional resources as well as to see where she has been applying to cross-reference her chances for opportunities.
